Iddeas for an environmental club activities.?

and for for earth day. any ideas what we shall do???

Start from making a layman aware of the importance of a green and clean environment,

involve students in your awareness programmes,bcoz if they get it into their head, they will develop those into habbits and may also inspire the elders to learn

You can start by researching wind power for your school... Solar power is, unfortunately, far from being a commercially viable option but wind power is HERE AND NOW and ready for the market...

You can get your local community involved in raising money and contacting inventers and companies that produce them and see if you can get them to "Donate" or even "Test" their products on your school.

Find and watch the History Channel's episode of Modern Marvles on Alternative Power or Environmental Tech... Specifically the one where they feature Jay Lenno and how he allowed an inventor to test out his wind turbines on the roof of his "Garage". (Which is actully the size of the average Target Store)

BUT, if you want to do some REAL good then you need to do some research on how recycling paper and plastic is actually WORSE for the environment then it is to make them from scratch...

How making shirts and 'fleese" from plastic bottles is actually more harmful for the environment then throwing them in a land fill.

Or paper... Stop using/buying paper and paper companies will stop planting trees... Yeah, the trees are harvested for paper but they are automatically replanted to grow more trees to make more paper...

Or how landfills, though not 'the answer', actually generate power for the communities around them by the capturing of the methane, a fuel gas.

Find out the FACTS behind the hype and the "Feel Good" Governmental Make-Work and spread the news far and wide...

It costs more, for less environmental improvement, to Recycle non-metals then it does to have it hauled to a landfill...

It is sad but 100% true...

You can promote garbage segregation in your community...

You can start painting used barrels or sacks with nonbiodegradable, biodegradable and recyclables. You can also sell the recyclables in a junk shop and use the money for your clubs future projects!

You can organize clean up drives....

Or maybe put up a tree planting activity...

You can also organize a group activity that involves informational talks on how the earth can be saved from pollution....

you could go to a park and clean up...you could go and plant trees... you could go and learn how to eat nature food like Yuhl Gibbons used to... "remember, a pine tree is edible"

Hook up with your local chapter of the Sierra Club. The organization has been the staple for over 100 years when it comes to environmental conservation, education, etc.
