Ideas For A Short Story?

Question

Anyone got any ideas for a short story I need to write to go into my folio for English for my Standard Grades? It has to be from 600 to 800 words.

school kid who has a knife for his so called protection and then finds out about how much harm it really can cause that will be a good 1

This will really depend on your personal interests and tastes. A fictional short story could be about any topic within any genre. Here's a great article about a tool I sometimes use when I need ideas for writing. It explains how to generate ideas for yourself.

Well,, how about an Adventure story? Romantic? Scary?

Try make the audience get into the story.

Add a cliff hanger

example:Sarah approached the haunted house, as she was just about to open the door it opened it self, and she saw..

I dont know, im not very good at cliff hangers XD.

Make sure not to put a load of conversations.

A girl who lives with her dad (mum died) and is kidnapped by a stalker because he used to love her mum and she looks like her mum used to. It's nothing sinister though really, because the kidnapper has a slight mental problem.

Write a story about a 9th grade boy who's being abused by his parents who joins a club that is for people interested in being a mentor for kids with autism at a facility for autistic kids JUST FOR A LAUGH with his friends, but he's not really willing to do it for a laugh because he's a good kid, and after a couple visits with the boy with autism he's been visiting, he realizes that the fact that his parents don't love him enough to visit him makes him start to be deeply affected by how similar they really are (because he was abused), and they become good friends. Then, one day when he sees his friends treating the kids with autism in a clearly fake kindness, and see them laughing and trying to get this autistic kid to admit embarrasing things, he barges in and tells them off. His friends then completely ditch him one night, and he's left there alone at the mall with no ride, and after calling his mom, she comes and picks him up. Then, the next day, he pounds all of his friends and gets arrested, and after telling his story and requesting to deliver a speech to the school, the Principal Approves, he does, and it brings everyone to tears.

A group of 7 friends...and each of'em have a characteristic of the 7 deadly sins (Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy,  Pride)...they have to figure out ways to overcome their  'sin'
