Question:

Ideas for HS Senior Trip?

I'm going to be a senior in high school officially next week and the school was planning to send about 100 of it's seniors to Barbados. (The HS has roughly 1200 kids and not surprisingly, many seniors will not graduate.)

The school is Shaw High School, a public high school in East Cleveland, Ohio. An English teacher had already began raising money for the trip, but myself and a few other students think that it is too ambitious of a goal. The fewer the students to attend the trip, means the more money those that are going will have to pay out of pocket, which could be anywhere from $400 and up, which is a lot. We also were discussing that Cleveland-based businesses' donations were a large part of our band going to China for the Olypmics to play. (We have one of the best HS bands in Ohio). And that if we could figure out a place that has some educational benefits we could get more money from outside donations. And a vast majority of the cost would come out of Prom ticket sales. Someone suggested Paris or London.

But, regardless, the max students that would attend would be 100. It would be best if we could drive there, but if not, that's fine. I'd love it if we were able to go to Paris, but it's a stretch.

Do you have any ideas?

  1. I did an EF Collegebreak trip to Italy for my Senior trip with a bunch of friends. I really liked it. It was so amazing. But thats really cool how your highschool is offering a trip. Mine didn't so my friends and I decided to make our own trip. You should check it out though. Just google it. Its a packaged deal, so all of their trips include the round trip airfare, hotels, and breakfasts. My trip was two weeks in italy, but they offer a bunch of other trips too. I also have a discount code for them if you end up deciding to use them, its hesseln1188 and it saves you an extra $50. I know that on some of the trips, you could make it by just saving around $150 a month. (because thats how I saved and ended up able to go) Just remember that if you think you want to do it, book ahead because it will be cheaper than months from now. I learned that the hard way. Good luck on your trip!
