Question:

Ideas for charity auction basket?

A coach at my school has been diagnosed with cancer.

There's a fund raiser next week, on Thursday. My class has volunteered to create a basket that will be auctioned off to raise money for the treatment.

If someone could throw me some ideas as to what we could put in the basket that people would buy, it would be really helpful.

For example, the freshman are doing a movie basket. It has like...5 bags of popcorn, a few movie rentals, some candy, etc.

Again, thanks to anyone who can help!

  1. How about a spa basket. Include plush robs, slippers and nice body lotions.  Include two passes to a really nice spa with free massages.

  2. I agree with slk29406, I'm on a Vol. Search and Rescue Team and we make a basket and sell tickets for chances on it.Most of the local businesses donate stuff to put in it.

  3. Lots of good ideas here already. Hmm, how about an Italian dinner basket:

Jar of good pasta sauce (Like Newman's Own)

Coupe of different types of dry pasta

    Parmesan cheese

    cheese grater

    pasta strainer

    bottle of red wine

    candles

    table cloth

Wishing you the best of luck with your fundraiser.

  4. WOW, i am so impressed, what a wonderful thing you are doing.

Get hotel or motel to donate a weekend to you give a way to a lucky winner

A 10-15 dollar MasterCard or Visa card (debit)

Ask a fast food restaurant to donate a couple meals

Ask Blockbuster if they would donate the value of a couple movie rentals.

Ask a local restaurant to donate a dinner for two

How about a couple tickets to a sporting event.  Speak with someone at the place they hold the events and ask them for tickets

Ask a movie theater to donate a couple tickets

Best of luck to you, you are so awesome!

  5. When my ex bf was a volunteer firefighter, they had an annual party/dance/auction and the baskets were stuff people or business donated, so ask local businesses and parents to make donations.  Then you could make theme baskets too.

I remember we won a breakfast basket, it had ham or bacon, pancake mix, spatula, etc in a mixing bowl.  You could do other themes as well, maybe a lunch in a picnic basket etc.

Since you are kids I don't recommend a wine basket, but you could also put together a romance basket with candles, a cd with jazz in it, sparking cider, champagne glasses etc.

This is a good thing you are doing, keep up the good work.

  6. What a lovely idea. Every year, I have a raffle at my house to support the Demelza  House Children's Hospice in England, and we've done baskets as well.

Some popular ones were "Game Night" which was a basket full games and card games such as Yahtzee, Rook, UNO, Phase10, etc.

We also put together a lovely gardening basket, which had seeds. planting shovels/etc. a small watering can, and everything that would be used in the garden.

"Tea For Two"..a basket filled with a variety of teas, tea pot and cups, 2 boxes of cookies, (tea cookies, and biscotti) and two beautiful linen placemats.

Chocolate Extravaganza: A variety of European Chocolate, from Toberlone to Bacci, Giandujia, and Rocher.

Hope this helps in some way. :)
