If you killed osama bin laden

If you found osama bin laden walking down the street somewhere in the USA and you ran up to him and slit his throat and stabbed him repeatedly, or shot him, would you be tried for murder and sent to jail? Or would you somehow be exempt or something?

Actually, I think there's still a $25 million reward for him (or was it raised to $50M) and that it's probably a dead-or-alive reward.  What's unlikely about your scenario is that he'd be here in the US rather than you, a civilian, finding him in some other country like Pakistan!

That's the beauty of the jury system (ask OJ). I doubt you'd get a conviction.

You wouldn't go to prison you would be 50 million dollars richer their is a bounty for him dead or alive.

Yes you would have committed a murder. You would be arrested and you would go to prison. Would I arrest you, probably not.

well, technically you should be sent to jail for murder, but i suspect the government would turn a blind eye
