If you were to punish someone...?

I'm doing a project for school and i was wondering what your thoughts were,,

1. If you could punish someone, would it be someone else or yourself?

2. and for what sin would you punish for?

I don't like the idea of punishing people myself, we have a law system for that, but ... IF I were to do it then it would be for all the things people do that harms the world that we live in. There are so many persons in this world that do really harmful things and get away with  it. I'd like that to stop.
