  1. hmmh All I know is that enzymes are the life in food and are necessary for high quality health.

  2. I didnot know cheese is non veg as

cheese is a by product of milk then why is it non veg?

  3. 'Enzymes' can come from animal or plant sources.

However, I would avoid anything I am uncertain of. Unless the cheese states that it is suitable for vegetarians, I wouldn't risk it.

(I don't eat cheese anymore, but still, it pays to check labels).

  4. trader joes has cheese foe vegetarians. its called tillamook.i get it all the time.

  5. Unfortunately you cannot know without either looking for a "suitable for vegetarians" label or contacting the manufacturer of a particular brand.

Jsut a few figures to help keep this in context...About 70% of US cheese and 90% of Canadian cheeses are NOT vegetarian.

In the UK its about 50%, a figure mainly brought about by the importing of cheese -a high proportion of UK made cheese IS veggie.

I find most manufacturers and very happy to answer questions about the contents of thier products if you write to them.

You are right to look at this detail though, vegetarians have to be sure there are no slaughter products in thier cheese.

  6. From a health perspective, I would reccommend that you stay away from most of those soy cheeses and other artificial soy products. Most of them are heavily processed and contain chemicals and other such ingredients which are harmful to the body and do not promote good health.
