  1. Try Yonge & Eglinton .... It's what we call "mid-town" ... It's got a downtown flavour, with a mild suburban feel.  It's a perfect area.  Lot's of good pubs (Rose & Crown and The Duke) but also a lot of great resteraunts, book stores, movie theatres, transportation. etc.  1100 bucks should get you a pretty decent place.  May be a bit smaller than what you'd find in the burbs, but the conveiniences far make up for it.  You should have no problem finding a job here ... there is a building boom going on (condo market) and there are cranes everywhere ... I'm sure they're looking for electricians.  Check (www.monster.ca or www.workopolis.ca) for adverts.

Last but not least ... WELCOME!

  2. Go to www.viewit.ca for apartment hunting in Toronto.

You shouldn't have a problem finding something in your price range if a one bedroom is what you're after.  Two bedrooms @ $1100 will be tough.

As for pubs, don't worry about it.  There are a ton of them here in T.O.!

Good luck--you made the right decision because this is the best city on earth!

  3. Cain't forget the pubs, mate!  You'll probably have to take a test for local electrician.  Most likely a state test.  Shouldn't be a problem, I suspect.  As far as the rent, look online to see what an apt. is commanding these days.  Good luck and don't forget to name you first born after me!  Timothy, even if it is a girl!

  4. viewit.ca for apartments and jobbank.gc.ca for jobs:) also you may need to contact a local college to see if you need to upgrade your schooling...check under mohawk college - stoney creek campus and you can find a phone number to contact head office..just ask and if you do, you can upgrade by doing a fast track course i believe and mohawk would be able to set you up with a provincial exam:)
