Immigration and legalization help?

I am planning to get a lawyer to help my mother become legal. She did enter illegally but she works and pays taxes....shes about to live here a full decade and I feel she deserves legalization. I am legal and plan to make her a citizen. I need a lawyer though. Anywone knows about a good lawyer or how should I go about this?

Doesn't matter whether you think she deserves legalization,she has broken the law for almost 10 years.

She cannot have her status changed while she is living here illegally. She has to return to her home country and you will have to petition her from there,that is if you are over 21 and a legal citizen. It is the only way it can be done.

omg... she needs to leave the country and then go throught the process, yah it sucks but thats the only way.

Working here and paying taxes does not make someone a US citizen.

The fact is that she broke US laws by staying here for a decade illegally. She probably had to use a fake SSN the whole time too.

Illegal immigrants are a huge financial burden on the real citizens. Not to mention the gangs and drugs and violence.

I have news for you, what you feel does not count at all. It is the US government the one that will tell her what to do. She entered illegaly and she will have to pay the consecuences

Unfortunately, immigration law isn't based on what you as an individual feels should and should not happen.

A lawyer is there to navigate you through the law, and what you want to do is outside the law.

As an illegal alien, regardless of her employment and past tax contributions, she is ineligible to adjust her status. First she would have to leave the country, and wait for the automatic ban she has to pass. Depending on how long she has been in the country, the ban period will be 3 to 10 years (although waivers can be obtained in exceptional circumstances of hardship).

Once the ban is over, then she can explore avenues to come to the US to become an LPR. This depends on what your status is. If you are a citizen, it will be quicker than if you are a lawful permanent resident yourself.

it doensnt matter wat some people are saying, dont give up and help your mother get her citizenship because she deserves it. unfortunately, i dont know the name of any lawyer :(

However, ask around to people who have hired attorney before for the references on any immigration attorneys. Honestly, you are facing very difficult challenge for your mother. So make sure you find well-reputed attorney how have been dealt with such situation.
