Question:

Important question regarding scholarship applications?

Should I put that I have a disability, PTSD, on a scholarship application? If I do, do I have to explain why?

I have PTSD from a car accident that was determined to be not my fault. Will mentioning it hurt my chances of getting the scholarship?

Thank you!

  1. There is no way to predict whether this information will help or hurt you, unless the scholarship is specifically for disabled people.

If you choose to list this information, be sure to include information about how you deal with the effects of your disability and how you have a plan to keep it from causing you to fail in college.

  2. Unless the scholarship is specifically for someone with this disorder I would not list it.  Otherwise you could hurt your chances.
