Incanation Symbolism

Question

Hey guys, I just read the book Incantation by Alice Hoffman, and I was wondering if anyone else has read it? And if you did read it, could you explain some of the symbolism for me?

Extremely provocative book that hits you in places that have never been touched before.  Some of the symbolism deals with how we feel about ourselves and humans as a general rule.  This 16 year old experiences many terrible things done by supposedly nice people.  Fertile garden refers to our inner being that we can change for good or bad.  This 16 year old girl lives in a secret community of jews with ancient rituals with others do not understand.
