Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills preview
Thank god it’s the preseason. Less exciting granted but both the Bills and the Colts would be thinking just that after both teams got manhandled in their preseason games. It shouldn’t even be called a match because the Colts were no match for the 49ers at all and the Bills fared even worse against the Washington Red Skins. In all fairness the Bills never had a chance against the Red Skins but they could have at least put up a decent fight.
So to all the Bills and Colts fans out there, thank god it’s the preseason and when the regular season opens it would be 0-0 all around. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy the games though.
Thursday’s exhibition match between the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills might actually be fun to watch. The teams have had an equally bad start to their preseason which also means they are equally pumped to get at least one win before the preseason ends. It’s their chance to shine on Thursday.
The Colts have three more games to go this preseason. If they don’t win on Thursday they have the Green Bay Packers and the Cincinnati Bengals to look forward to. Let’s face it if they don’t even beat the Bills then they definitely aren’t going to win against the Packers or even the Bengals. The Colts have a preseason history which says they don’t care about these games enough but coming in after losing 4-0 won’t help anyone’s confidence.
The Bills get one more likely shot against the Detroit Lions but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t pit everything they have against the Colts. They are going to have to because the Colts might have had a rough start this season, but they still have a much better shot on Thursday than the Bills. Colts quarterback, Manning said that the Colts were still in ‘training camp mode.’ While the Colts lost to the 49ers earlier, Manning still had a good run.
The Colts have added depth to their roster in the offseason but they still lean too heavily on Manning. It’s something we saw against the 49ers too. As soon as Manning left the field the Colts faltered and the 49ers made full use of the opportunity.
The Quarterback had faith in the Colts defence. Though the 49ers proved unstoppable, no one could say that the Colts didn’t give them a tough time.
As for Buffalos, they absolutely have to get their quarterback situation sorted in the next few games before the regular season begins. Right now the Buffalo Bills have 3 quarterbacks and no starter. In their words it’s a ‘competition’ between Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm for the starting position.
What it really means is that they can’t decide who to go with. The most likely choice right now is Trent but that would depends on how the next few games go for him and the other hopefuls. Comparing their statistics is just depressing. Suffice to say that the there is no clear choice between the three though you can count out rookie Brian Brohm, unless Trent and Ryan do exceptionally horribly in the next few games. It’s a lose-lose situation for Buffalo Bills currently with the choices they have. If they were forced at gun point to necessarily choose between the 3 then they probably would chose Trent Edwards. It’s going to be a long season for the Bills.
The Bills were one of the worst teams in the AFC East and their battle this season is not to be as bad as last year. Considering that their newly acquired coach Chan Gailey is going to have to be their knight in shining armour, it’s going to be an uphill struggle with slippery grease and giant flaming fireballs rolling down the slopes.
