  1. Indifference can be mistaken as tacit approval.

    People need to speak up and say something, not just sit silently.  If you see a friend doing something you think is wrong, SPEAK UP!  To say nothing, or be indifferent very well could be construed as acceptance, even approval, if the other person has a big ego.
