How much money will it cost for an indy car racer to race in one race?

The Dallara's used are $309,000 apiece....before the Honda engine is installed...the Honda Program is another 100k or so. Then you need a crew, a transporter, spare parts, testing, fuel, tires, etc...

It gets real spendy.....real fast..... And that's just ONE car....

All depends. If you are able to lease a car for one race it can be cheaper. However the start up of a team. employees, testing can all add up.

That's certainly an ambiguous question.  Each driver is under contract with their team, so that depends on what kind of contract they have (when it comes to their actual wages.)

Then, there's the track entrant fees.  Each one is different, so it's hard to answer that angle of your question too.

The car?  Well that would depend on what parts they might need for the race (assuming they don't need to buy a car.)

And let's not forget transportation to and from the actual venue; nor the wages for their team mates.  Advertising/Sponsorship also figures into the equation

The closest I could get to an answer would be to suggest looking at what it cost Sarah Fisher to enter the Indy 500.  She, and her Family Members, gambled everything they own to enter; mortgaging their homes, vehicles etc.

I think you would need an ICS statistics expert to come up with an answer to this one...

It certinaly depends if you are planning to actually win a race or just get by...My fiance' and his father both grew up working on Indycars and other sorts...and just by what they have said it takes about about a near half million just to put a team and car together for the greatest spectacle, The Indianapolis 500.

Last year, they put a team together with Roger Yasukawa as the driver...The team was owned by Wellman and Corbeir custom homes.  The Honda engines are about like they said 100K + but many teams have a few of them and switch it out before raceday.
