One side argues that inequality is always going to be present because of personal differences between individuals either in the form of basic differences in their own makeups or differences in the amount of effort they expend. What do you think of this statement?

  1. i think it is true. even two people under the same treatment will be different. do you support communism?

  2. I disagree. From a sociologist's perspective, this statement is quite conservative and has been rejected by the field for a long time. Societal (or economic) inequality is not based on individual differences but must be looked at within a diachronic historical context of oppression. This statement would only be true if everyone was born with the exact same opportunity, but of course that is far from reality.

  3. True. I have seen identical twins who were unequal in many respects.
