Question:

Inexpensive Women's Mountain Bike?

I've been shopping Craigslist, Walmart & Target for a decent deal on a light yet tough women's mountain bike. My max is $150, and although I am a beginner, I'd like something that I can take on trails and maybe to Moab this summer. Any advice?

  1. $150 is low for either new or used. The problem with used is that it's used and can be unreliable.

The best value bikes I have seen is from a company called Forge Bicycles. They are sold on target.com so you can find extra savings and you can trust buying from Target.

The female mountain model they have is called the Devon, it's designed for hybrid use. Which is mountain trails and paved paths. The frame is all aluminum and the components are all well known.

    Here's the link:

The other choice I would suggest is the lower end Giant Boulder, the frame is steel but at least it's new.

    Best of luck.

  2. Do not buy new. There isn't a new $150 bike that will be reliable or last on real MTB trails. Used is the only way to go, even then $150 won't get you far.
