Inexpensive substitute for topside boat paint?

i need somthing cheap for above the water line. was thinking of somthing like LANCO white seal (roofing paint)

a boat is nothing like a house or car. when you say cheap for a boat it is trouble from the start. if you cant afford to do it correct get rid of the boat.

I think a urethane topside paint is worth the money. It is not expensive unless you are doing a yacht. Your time is a factor and roofing paint will peel off a fiberglass boat rather quickly and look worse than if it was left alone.

You don't mention if your boat is glass or timber.

If it is timber just ordinary gloss house paint is fine.Either acrylic or oil base.

I have painted a couple of my own boats with house paint and it has lasted well.

Cheap in the short run is expensive in the long run with boats.
