Infected wound! HELP!!!?

I fell off my bike a week ago and i had a wound on my knee which was not deep, luckily.

I went to the doctor yesterday because the swelling hadnt disappeared completely for a whole week, and she told me it got infected and gave me antibiotics, and an antibacterial ointment.

im using both regularly. last night the infected skin got off my knee, and now i can see the pink fresh layer, i think its dermis.

the weather here is hot and humid here right now - very suitable for bacterias. im scared it might get infected again even if i use the medicines.

how long do you think it will take for my wound to recover completely? what can i do not to get infected again and recover much more quicker? (without taking any more medicines, like herbal treatments etc)

  1. well  first off you do need to kepp using the meds.If you have air conditioning try to stay indoors if you don't try to keep it cool.It will probably take another week or so.Keep it as dry as possible so it can scab quicker and help prevent infection.Once it scabs you're pretty safe.Good Luck!

  2. Pour hydrogen peroxide on it. It will sting tremendously- but it gets the job done. It will kill all the bacteria in your knee. Once you put the hydrogen peroxide on, wait for it to stop stinging, and then wipe your knee off with a clean paper towel and put a bandage over it. Take your bandaid off at night, and then when you wake up in the morning, repeat the process one more time, and then the next morning just put a new bandaid over it without applying the hydrogen peroxide. Good Luck!

  3. Dip that baby in some hydrogen peroxide and watch it bubble.   It kills infections and makes wounds heal better.  Make sure you also letting your knee breath- don't keep it bandaged 24 hours.

  4. well you should keep it clean and regularly wash it and apply the ointment on it as the doc has advised .... the ointment not only fights the infection but also shields the wound from the outside enviroment thus protecting it from the bacterias etc around in the air. it can take anything from a week to a month for it to recover completely upto the point where the new skin takes over depending how large the wound is but i wouldnt advise too much worry ... jus follow what the doc says. Get well soon.

  5. Try using a band aid with mercury in it, you can buy them in packs. Or call your doctor & ask if it ok to use one of those spray plaster products. You spray it onto the wound ( will sting a fair bit though ) & just leave it dry, it seals your wound similar to a second skin.

    Good Luck. X :-)
