Infection in toe or not?

So, for the past couple of days my big toe has really been hurting, not bad though. It is a dark red color. A couple weeks ago, I had an infection in the same toe and I am wondering if its back? I have poked it, but all that comes out is blood.

I've had a lot of ingrown toenails removed without using the numbing agent, and I wouldn't call it surgery.  Its a simple in office procedure....but I have also seen infections get worse by not treating an ingrown toenail.  I would make an appt. with a podiatrist, if you don't get the numbing agent, they usually cost $40-$60 depending on your location.  It depends on your pain tolerance.  Either way...get it looked at by a podiatrist.

sounds like it could be an ingrown toenail i had one a few months ago and it was very very painful i cldnt even walk and i had swelling and like this under skin grow through because it got so bad and it got really badly infected you should go to the doctors they will be able to see if it is or not and if it is you will have it removed which can hurt a bit (i refused to have mine removed because im a wimp) but mine just grew out but it took like 2 months. but apparently its better to have it removed its less painful.

Sounds like you have an ingrown toenail.  You should get that checked out asap because they can get quite painful and require surgery.
