does being married have a major effect on what you receive for aid when filling out a fafsa?

  1. Maybe... or it could have no effect.

    If you add someone to your household size and they are working and making a lot of money then you will likely be less eligible for need-based aid, if any.

    If you add someone to your household size and they are in college and hardly working... you will probably be more likely to be eligible for need-based aid, if any.

    Then there is the you add someone and maybe they make more or less than you and somehow your EFC comes out about the same... lol

    There are waaaaaaaay to many variables to know what is going to happen.  File your FAFSA, answer your questions honestly, and see what happens.


  2. it depends on what your circumstances are.  when married, both husband and wifes income are used to calculate financial aid.
