  1. Apiaries in Panama?  There's lots of honey in Panama.  There is commercial honey on the shelves of the grocery stores, I only see one name brand from Panama.  I'm not aware of the extent of the industry.  I've never seen the bee boxes along the sides of the roads.   I would imagine it's about the same as the states though.  We were in apiaries in Idaho and sold honey to Sue Bee Association,  we were a mom and pop venture.  Thousands of other mom and pop and even larger commercial ventures across the states sell seasonally to Sue Bee.  All graded for color and high price is paid for the palest shades. Honey from all over the US are blended together accordingly regardless of region as long as the color is the same.  

    I've seen imported honey from other Central and South American countries and also stuff from the US

    There is the Silvester miel de abeja (honey from the Darien) which is cultivated from wild hives in trees.
