  1. Hi, looks like you're going to a great spot -- have fun and take time to explore and enjoy some of the best scenic areas in the country.

Sirsi,  a  town in Uttara Karnataka, is considered  a "forgotten paradise" hill station in the Western Ghats populated with 65,000 people. This town is surrounded with thick green forests, with many lush water falls. The city offers a majestic view of the Sahayadri mountains. It is surrounded with  wild and untamed hilly terrains and numerous beautiful and undiscovered natural waterfalls.

Spoken languages are Kannada and Konkani.

Hubli being the nearest city, business opportunities are plenty. Supari (Arecanut or Betulnut)  is the main business of the people. People in this area own areca farms in acres, meeting  much of the needs of people all over India and abroad. Other crops cultivated are are cardamom, pepper and vanilla.

Some 30 kms from Sirsi, the river Aghanashini, originating from the Western Ghats, makes a spectacular waterfall called Unchalli. This falls is located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka.

The spot is between Sirsi and Siddapura. Jeep is the best mode of transportation. Buses operated by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will arrive up to Heggarani, from where one has to walk a few kilometers. Kumta Railway Station is the nearest railhead.

Benne HoLe Falls. This marvelous place is one among the numerous waterfalls (estimated to 18 or so ) in North Kanada. A tributary of the river "Aghanashini" by name 'beNNe hoLe'(hoLe is big stream in Kannada) flowing through the dense forests of the Devimane Ghats region of the Western Ghats falling from a height of about 200 feet forms a spectacular visual treat (of course mental too).

On the way to Kumta from Sirsi after 21kms you get a small places called "Kasage". From here the waterfall is around 6 kms away. Take the path which goes towards "Hosur" and up to Hosur, it is a jeep track till the last house in Hosur. From here it is 2 kms walk to the waterfall.

Shivaganga Falls is a 74 m high waterfall on the river Sonda in Uttara Kannada, India. This is about 22 km away from the town of Sirsi. The waterfall is located in an area of thick forest.

The world famous Jog falls is further south of Siddapura, in the Shimoga district, one of the tallest in the world.

Sahasralinga, place of a thousand lingams (Lord Shiva) is about 10 kms away. Carvings of the lingams are made on rocks in the middle of the river, Shalmala, surrounded by lush green forests. The place attracts pilgrims on Shivaratri.
