My knee is in pretty bad condition, and it's soo hard to run on, but xc starts in a few weeks and I want to make sure that I have a good season so I really need to train. I've been taking pain killers but that doesn't do. So what should I do?

a) take the risk, and just run on it

or

b)don't run on it, but if i don't what should i do?

  1. Do NOT run on it. Go see the doctor. Easy on the pain killers. What will you use when you are older and it really hurts? Injuries must be treated properly or your running career will be over. Icing is a good idea until you get to the doctor.

  2. this might help.............u might want to ice it so it gets all num but it depends wat is wrong with it, but u should try the ice

  3. If you think there's a possibility of hurting it, then don't.

You'll be happy you didn't in 40 years.

  4. I would not run on it, it is a good chance that you tore your meniscus. If you keep on running on it you could make that tear worse, making the recovery longer. Most meniscus tears requires surgery, but in minor cases all you need is rehab.

  5. dont run on it because you can hurt it even more. You should ice it. thats helps a lot

  6. Physical therapy would help..

It's when they get you back to normal condition

    One step at a time

    =)

My bff is doing it right now for her knee too

  7. do not run on it. this past season i decided to do that and ended up fracturing my femur and wearing away all the muscle in my knee. see your regular family doctor; that person will probably send you to a specialist. i wasn't able to do sports for seven months, and then had to go into physical therapy, and it's still getting better. it's worth going to the doctor instead of ruining the rest of the year

  8. dont do it! believe me thats what i did and i was out for the rest of track which was mostly all of it and just started with xc again and i'm not gunna actually be able to run a race until late september and right now i'm only allowed to run on grass so make sure you're better and feel alright without the painkillers and for what you should do try something else what i did was lots of abs workout and rode my bike alot and tried running lightly on it like i am now for only 30 minutes and on grass and SLOW until nothing hurts anymore good luck and i hope you start feeling better and can run again!

  9. You can go to a physiotherapist and see what they say! if you don't want to do that, you can wear a brace or use sports tape and take anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen (Nurofen Plus with extra codeine for the pain) or diclofenac (Voltaren) (if you're in America it might be different names). If these methods don't work then you might have to see a doctor or a physio! Hope this answers your question!  Hope you get better! =)
