Question:

Inline Skating Ankle Problems?

I bought EPIC inline skating yesterday at Target. I haven't skated in years, but, my left ankle bends outward. I reput them on, and a few steps later, it started to bend again. Strange thing is, my right foot is just fine.

  1. right foot is stronger you gotta build up ankle strength...........

try taping the left ankle for more support.

  2. By bending outwards, I am assuming that you mean that the bottom of the foot is outwards.  It is called pronation and is relatively common.

If you bought your skates loose (like a lot of beginners do), it will make it worse.  You want your skates to be snug all around your feet without crushing your toes.  No movement at all in the boot other than wiggling your toes.  If this is the case and you cannot return the skates, you might want to add an additional insole under the one in the skates or add some foam rubber between the lining and the boot in the lower leg area to help the skates hold your feet straight.

You can work on your form and strengthening that ankle by practicing setting it down under your body so you balance on it before pushing out.  Try to roll your foot a little so that the wheels leaning towards the inside.

Some people have odd enough feet that they need to adjust the frame under the boot.  Not a chance of doing that with discount store skates.
