I have an alpine type x running off a kenwood 1800 amp

when the bass hits the lights dim and if I turn the volume up the sub cuts out and when next to it the sub makes a knocking sound would installing a capacitor fix either of these

  1. no the problem is you altenator is not putting out enough power for your amp. adding a capaciter just makes you altenator work harder and not solving the problem.what you need is to get a hi output altenator, after you get one of those then a power cap will help too.


  2. No it won't help, you need a bigger battery(s) and a HO alternator

    try to run your sub in a higher ohm load( wire the voice coils in a series instead of parallel ) until you can do the proper upgrades to protect your investment and your car.
