Interesting fundraising ideas?

Hi - I am embarking on a 6 month volunteer scheme in March, and part of the project is to do some fundraising (£600) in your local area to raise awareness of the charity before you go. I would like to do something a bit unusual, not the classic sponsored run / silence etc; or perhaps make something people would like to buy - I would like the people who give me money to get something out of it as well if possible. Has anyone got any good ideas? Thanks!

Have a roast cheshnut party,  It's easy just buy a huge bag of cheshnuts and cook them in the oven if you don't have a chiminea or anything silmilar to cook them on outside.  About 8 cheshnuts per person with a drink for about £2 per person.

We had one in November and it went down so well kept it going all day and raised well over £3000 for an orphange.  People were buying two,three even four lots.  Got the cheshnuts donated, easy to do and great fun.  Cooked them outside on a Chiminea. No-one ever does roast cheshnuts these days so it was a novel idea served with a glass of port based wine.

Get people of all ages and a big pile of hula hoops and get everyone playing for say 50p a time.  It's fun and all ages get to join in.

Food FOOD Food al the way , Get to know what the people who you know would come for the fund raiser like to eat and  treat them  with delicious food . They can pay any price for good Food and charity.

have an op shop fashion parade

get volunteers to dress in tragic 80s formal wear and people pay to come and see it , ask a local club to donate the hall and drinks ( non alcoholic - clubs wont give booze away for nothing )

The way by far is to register as a community fundraiser with the Utility Warehouse, you can make £1000's per month for the charity and it is interesting.

Well, this is a bit unusual but when I worked at the food bank, this strip club approached us and asked if we would be interested in recieving proceeds from their strip-a-thon. We raised a few grand because the women are getting money anyway. This isn't a really credible source though, I'm not sure what your project is in regards to but it might be deemed a little too offensive.

Something else that is a little tame but still on the same track is advertising in night clubs. I'm not sure how it would be like in the UK but here in Canada, we're sometimes provided tickets by nightclubs for special events. The tickets cost $10 which is split between the club (if the club charges cover) and the charity, sometimes the club throws in an extra drink, VIP access or even give the entire proceeds to charity. It's a win-win situation for both and sometimes the DJ can talk a little about the cause. Other than the tickets, I once went into a nightclub where some ladies in pink wigs were selling raffle tickets to win ipods for $5 each. The ipods were donated by a local store they had contacted. The raffle could also work at pubs and clubs.

I think the whole idea behind it is that people going out at night carry a lot of cash and when they're intoxicated, they tend to spend all that cash and they feel more charitable than they usually do. Either way, it's a nice way to promote your cause and you can even circulate brochures in the venue or hand them out while they're leaving.

I am doing a six month sponsored slim for my local nursey school which is a charity run school l am hoping to raise a thousand pounds. I am five days in and going strong!
