  1. Relatives are the best source for stories about a particular person on your tree.

Use a tape recorder, so that you can listen to the tapes later and write the info down as accurately as possible.

A tape recorder can also help you keep track of info; dates and inscriptions on tombstones, newspaper articles, obituaries, family bibles or other books.

  2. There are ancestry sites available that help you find anyone but will charge a fee. Anyone that's deceased in the USA can be found and even their SSN's. Not right but I found my ancestors and that passed on  a long time ago and I found their obituaries. I am Italian too but my grandparents came from Italy.  You will always see on the computer ancestry sites and people finders......so start there. Just give as much info as you know and I am sure you will come up with something. I found my cousin (still living) in Italy for free . It had her phone number name and address but their last name was not very common. It was fun looking up relatives by typing in the names and as much info as you have. Unless they were famous, I doubt you could find interesting stories about them. The best place is to start with your living relatives, as many  as possible and write down anything they might remember about them. I wish you the best and hope you find many interesting things about them. Even if you find the towns where they grew up, that would be great.

I have many interesting stories about my departed grandparents but they were alive then or my parents told me. Find the oldest living relative, if their mind is good, and ask away!!! Ciao!
