International Sim Card Dilemma

So I leave to study abroad in Madrid, Spain in a couple of weeks, and have been toiling over whether I should be safe and buy an international sim card in here in the US before I leave or wait until I get to Madrid. I have heard that once you arrive at the airport there will be a plethora of cheap international sim cards to choose from. HELP!

yes there are cheap sim cards. I bought an international sim card for my US phone and do not even use it. It is so much cheaper to buy a pay-as-you-go cell phone. You can get a decent phone for around 50 euros and use it the entire time while in Spain and just add money when needed.
