ok so i want to get broadband for my laptop.

I live at home and i know that my parents have had this before with virgin and didnt pay the bill or somehting

This is now just for me but i dont want there credit rating to affect me.

Ive heard there is something you can say about this so the address doesnt affect your chance of getting credit.

I am squeaky clean so it seems unfair.

Does anyone know what this is called??

  1. Get yourself a prepay USB broadband modem from 3. Currently costs about £49.99 plus a monthly data allowance. You just plug the dongle - kind of a miniature mobile phone - into your PC and within a few minutes can cruise the web without a telephone line  from nearly anywhere in the UK. As you pay as you go no credit check is required. Check the 3 network's coverage in your area via their website.

  2. if you are of age, you can say your address Room "123" @ followed by your parent's place, that is the house address. Then you'll have your own clean address (as if you are renting a unit - even if not; it on paper separates you). You can start getting your mail to that address etc. Moreover, this will also let you start building your own good credit records.

This is so much easier than dealing with those credit bureaus, who to boot, will even keep a record that you requested to use the term that you are asking about.

  3. Yeah, its called moving out and becoming independent.

  4. you can enter on your credit record for a notice of disassociation. But as you live in the same house this will not benefit you, untill you move out.

Try contacting virgin (if in a cable area) or another adsl supplier if not, and explain. They may ask for a deposit (usually 6 months in advance).

    good luck
