Internet browser won't load?

Question

my friend opens firefox and she gets a continuous loading screen. but sometimes it will work for a while, then just stop working again. already tried using google to fix the problem but so far nothing has worked. it's not her internet connection because gmail works, it's just the browser that doesn't. It’s not just firefox either. Internet Explorer and this full screen game that requires the internet also doesn’t load. any suggestions?

reinstall the browser

and check for virus

just restart your pc but also delete your history and clear cookies in (tools) it may just be that there is some maintenance going on or maybe just alot of people finishing work and logging on etc
