Question:

Internet shuts off at random intervals?

Okay, I have BellSouth internet. The 'home' computer with the modem is perfect, but the 'branch' computer has horrible problems. It won't come on sometimes, and sometimes it will.

I've called BellSouth, and the guy told me he'd show me something to fix these problems for good, but, a few minutes later, it fails. What should I do?

  1. maybe you dont have a good enough connection, causing your adapter to disconnect every once and a while

  2. If your setup is really the way you describe - modem to computer, other ethernet jack on computer to other computer - that's probably your problem.  Use a router.  Connect the router to the modem.  Connect both computers to the router.

  3. To run 2 machines you should use a router, not just the modem. The correct conection would be to connect the router to the line, then ALL machines must connect to the router. This WILL cure the problem.
