Interstate furniture removal???

am interested in people that have moved interstate specifically southern qld to adelaide or vice versa.how much did it cost you for a removilist company to transport your belongings and any recomendations also has anyone hired a truck and done it themselves?

Do NOT hire your own truck as this is crazy rice for interstate move. They charge over $1000 to get the hire truck back to the original state. I move all the time from brissie to melb to south nsw, to sunshine coast to tassie back up to sunny coast then usa and then back up to brissie.

And I recently answered a similar question so I'll just tell you the same thing:

Okkies if its good quality furniture your probably better off getting a removalist. Although you do need to know how many cubic metres of gear you have, otherwise the price could be really high or really low (but probably in the thousands). Now you can go to heaps of websites that actually ask all these questions and work out how much you have and then you get a quote in a day or so specifically on what YOU need to move. Just look up "removalists australia" and you'll find heaps and just click on their quote button.

Also a cheaper way to move after you know how many cubic metres you have is to ask about "backloading". This is how I always move and I've moved heaps, internationally and interstate. This is when a big semi trailer has to drive back to it's home after doing a delivery and is empty or not full. They have to go back no matter if they have a load and if they can make some extra cash doing it they do at really cheap prices although you have to kinda go with their dates, so not a good option if you need your gear on specific dates. And it the removalists who do this but you just have to ask about it as they don't ussually tell you.

Havent moved that far, but I wouldnt recommend doing it yourself. If you find that with the removalist you have more then one truck load then perhaps hire a small truck and take the boxes and clothes and stuff yourself, not the breakables. But that also only works if you have enough drivers in your family to transport the vehicles, you dont want to be driving back and forward.

Shop around and get a few quotes.
