Interview for I-751 petition?

I just read the instructions to filing a I-751 petition to remove conditions on residence for my wife. It states that one may get affidavits from people knowing us since she was granted conditional residency.

How helpful is this? I don't want to bother family members with running around getting an affidavit.

Also, will they do an actual interview?

An affidavits from people knowing you is not necessary.

For the procedures to remove the conditions on permanent residence, if you as a couple to file a joint petition to remove the conditions on the alien spouse's permanent residence, your must submit the following: 1) USCIS Form I-751 (Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence) signed by both parties; 2) A copy of USCIS Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card); and 3) Evidence that the marriage is not to evade the immigration laws.

It is not exactly hard to get affadavits, take 5 mins, all they have to do is fill in their names and sign, just meet them at a bank (with ID) - most notarize for free... so it's not even like you have to pay for it. When I needed affidavits I got my best man, a long time friend, my sister in law and my boss - takes a couple of minutes and if is makes things easier with Immigration then it is well worth it!  Don't know about the interview, guess it depends on how strong your paperwork is!

You better get the affidavits if you don't want to bring trouble down on the two of you.  If you submit everything the odds are there will be no interview.  The green card will simply come in the mail.

If you try to take the easy way out you'll have an interview and a big investigation.

I don't think if you need an affidavit. I never heard of that before. You have to file jointly and sign the paper together and give some other supporting documents, such as marriage contract, joint bank account etc. They do an actual interview Yes! It's pretty easy they will ask you about when did you met, some question about both of you. It wasn't hard. For that removal of conditional residence as I said send everything what they ask for and of course pay the right amount. You both need to work together so it will get done well and easy. And don't get stress because everything's gonna be okay. I've done that before... Anyway what State did you apply?
