  1. If you'd like to know some general interview tips, read this article 15 Great Job Interview Tips to Get Your Dream Job by Sydney Hazelton.

She gives you valuable tips on how to prepare for an interview including examples of questions they may ask and how to answer them.

  2. Show personality. Be bubbly, porky, and always smile. Make your mama proud

  3. The day of interview be confident, come with resume and cover letter in hand.  If possible, bring transcripts with a good GPA.  Focus on your positive qualities and what you are able to bring to the company.  Also, don't be afraid to be honest about areas that may need improvement.  Be yourself but stay professional.  Follow- up the interview with an e-mail or mailed thank you card.

  4. some things you can do is make sure you look the part - a simple smart suit shows you respect your prospective employer; minimal jewelry and easy on the fragrances!  Next try to remember that you are there as an equal - the interview is for you to see if you think you'd fit in, just as the interviewer wants to know too.  finally, as far as admin is concerned, you don't need to know a lot about engineering of construction work - you're applying for admin, that means a good knowledge of computer packages like microsoft office (word & excel etc), internet explorer, emails, typing, perhaps finance somewhat.  Remember, whatever you wrote on your application must have appealed to them, now the interview is just a chance for you to speak more about the skills you wrote down, as well as highlight some of the experiences in your past jobs that your skills relate to.  And you have nothing to lose even if you don't get it - but you will have gained good interview experience to get you back into the swing of things.  enjoy it and very good luck to you!

  5. Hi

Try not to panic, I know that's easier said than done though.

Make sure you read through the job advert and any information they sent to you with the application form, also read through the main part of your application, the part where you had to tell them why you wanted the job and thought you were a suitable candidate.

It always helps to refresh your mind about the important things they are looking for and also what you said about yourself.  It will boost your confidence as well.

Rather than trying to research the areas they specialise in try and find some useful information about the company itself.  Do they have more than one office/branch, what areas do they specialise in, etc  general stuff, but that shows that you have taken an interest.

In an admin role I very much doubt that you will be expected to have specialist knowledge, just make sure that you tell them all about your experience and knowledge within this type of role, computer expertise, dealing with people, working to deadlines etc etc

I always find it is useful to write a list of questions to ask them at the end as well.  Write it down and take it with you.  Even if when you take out your notes read it and then say, No thank you, I think you have answered everything, it still looks like you have taken the time and effort to prepare.  But try not to ask questions about salary, holidays and things like that, far more impressive to ask about training opportunities, why the last person left, how many people you will be working with - it's all about making it look positive.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
