  1. I know Guildford very well.  It's a lovely city but hellish expensive!  You'd get a better standard of living on the same salary in Inverness but I guess it depends what you're looking for in life ...

  2. definately Inverness, nice people, nice city and breathtaking scenery like most of scotland, but being a scot i'm a bit biased, I love the highlands.

  3. I would personally go for Guildford, nearer to big cities and probably a lot more people to meet.

Inverness is pretty isolated up there!

  4. gotta be guildford.  close to london and therefore civilisation.  Got good boozers there too.

Plus Inverness.  Lovely place but full of jocks

  5. Id go to Inverness personnaly if all I was conserned with is which town is better to live in - Inverness and you get access to the scottish highlands. Guildford and you get access to London, which to be honest is dirty, overcrowded and too expensive (Guess I dont like the place).

Having said that, Inverness is a long way up there and if you have family in England a trip to visit them would take most of a day or evening.

Now, as for being single, who knows where the right person for you lives - it could be Scotland, or England, Wales or even Brazil - you never know.

If it was me in the position I would consider the job - what your prospects are for this one and the next job (for example, which will be better on a CV), the money of course, and what the people interviewing you were like. Then consider where you really can live - are your family and friends too far away in one of them, do they pay you enough to get a room, flat or house, food and entertainment, etc... Too much to decide on rather than just the town

  6. Inverness would be the less predictable and more interesting option. Beautiful scenery, and if you're from down south the chance to experience a different world. IMHO a lot of those surrounding areas a bit out of London are not that interesting.

  7. It depends what you like, but I personally would suggest Guildford. It's a lovely area, with both parks & gardens and plenty of shops & restaurants. It's obviously much closer to London, you are more likely to meet plenty of people and there is good nightlife in the town centre.

  8. Inverness definately. The surrounding highlands and islands are a fantastic place to be. The people are amazingly friendly too. Scotland over England every time.

    Better living all round

  9. Depends what you like.

Inverness is a small city, people are friendly, low crime rate,no big traffic problems, airport with flights south.

Guildford, don't know haven't been but probably better if you are a bright lights sort of person.
