Ipod HELP with computer please?

when i plug my 4gb ipod into my laptop, it doesnt detect it. itunes, or even my computer doesnt detect it. i have windows vista. i need help please.

when i first plug it in it has the charging symbol, but it goes away in seconds.

I had a similar problem with my webcam, and it turned out that there was a broken wire that got dislodged when I tried to connect it to my laptop, making it impossible for the computer to detect it. Maybe your ipod connection wire has a broken wire inside it and it doesn't allow the computer to detect it? If that isn't it maybe you could try restarting your ipod, it doesnt delete songs or naything, just reboots it. Hold in the middle button and the select button for up to ten seconds when the apple sign will appear, give it another try after that, it's fixed a lot of problems ive had with my ipod. Good Luck!

Sometimes if your version of itunes is outdated then it won't identify newer ipods. Just go to the apple site and download the newest version of itunes. And Vista shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Try putting your ipod into disk mode.
