Question:

Iran and Pizza?

I went to a friends house who is Iranian. Everyone ate pizza with pepperoni except for him. He refused to eat pizza. And I did not eat all of it and was going to throw it away until he stopped me. He took my plate of food and left it on the counter. I do not know what he did with the food? Is this a religious belief? Details please. Next time I would like to know so I can respect his culture.

  1. Next time He should know, and respect your culture. When in Rome...

  2. cjlvn is an idiot, sounds like TRASH!

If everyone ate pizza at your friend's house why is it strange that he didn't, maybe he's on a diet, or full.

He could be Muslim or Jewish( yes some are jewish) and didn't eat it because of religious reasons.

It's not rude for you to eat pork in front of him. I eat pork in front of my bf all the time and it's not like he freaks out. My friends mom makes her pork even though she doesn't like to eat it herself.

Your friend probably saved the pizza so he could put it in a compost heap or something.

It's not a religious belief for him to take it away from you and leave it on a counter. What do you think he's gonna do, use that slice and offer it to the Gods?!

Don't worry about anything, Iranian people aren't as strange as a lot of people might think or make them out to be. They're really nice, and a lot like every other family out there.

  3. I'm not sure if pepperoni's made from beef or pork honestly, but I do know if he's Muslim (not sure if he is but we'll go with the odds) then eating the pepperoni would possibly be against his beliefs.

    (Muslims don't eat pork.)

    You could always ask.
