Iran and foreign diplomats?

i've been doing a research paper for school, and i can't seem to find anything about modern iran's treatment of foreign diplomats and their stance on diplomatic immunity. anything you can tell me about it would be great.

  1. uhh I dont think we have diplomats in there country..

    or an embassy

Well, you might take a good look at the US embassy takeover in 79, when radicals took over the embassy completely, by force and then held hostage the US embassy personnel they captured.While in theory, the radicals had no links to the ayatollah's government, no one really believed that then, much less now. Certainly, the Iranian government made no effort whatever to release the American diplomats while President Carter remained in office.

  3. All countries that are members of the UN are bound by the same diplomatic immunity principles.  

    PS The US is represented in Iran by the Swiss Embassy.
