  1. it's owned by itself ... it's an independent country

  2. we own it OK the people of the republic

  3. Ireland. Northern has been a disputed territory in the past.

  4. Its the Republic of Ireland. Its governed by our president and our taoiseach (which is kind of like the English prime minister). And its not just the southern half. Only six of the northern counties are still under English rule. The rest are republic of Ireland

  5. What do you mean? Is this a joke? It's the Republic of Ireland!♣

  6. Its not "owned" by anybody! Its an independent country.

  7. Firstly noboby own's anybody else.

Now let me break it down for you Northern Ireland is governed by England. The Republic of Ireland is a free state and is governed by the Irish Government, the English have no say in the running of the Republic

  8. if you read my other answer to this similar question, then you will remember that i said that the southern part/free republic of ireland (also, called eire) got its independence in 1921 and its capital is dublin.   it is a free and democratic country, but is staunchly catholic (albeit, prudish due to its use of blue laws).   only recently have abortions been legalized as has later hours for pubs (which used to be closed by 11 pm).  interestingly, the irish drive on the left side of the road like their british counterparts.  other major cities in the south are (waterford (cut crystal glass), wexford (ceramics), cork/cobh (shipbuilding), killarney (famous kissing castle and ring of kerry), and shannon (the other major entry airport in eire - besides dublin)

the six counties that comprise northern ireland (also, called ulster) remained in the UK after that year.  although ulster has its own provincial government like wales, isle of man and the channel islands, it legal affairs/military protection is provided by the British government in london.

there has been 80+ years of sectarian violence based on this split with the sein finn (catholic) government (eire) aggitating for a full unification of both governments.  it, unofficially, uses a violent military unit called the IRA to attack the majority protestants in northern ireland (ulster).

this is not unlike the violence going on now in iraq between the shiites and the sunnis.  both worship allah and use the koran, but then interpret their holy books and teachings differently.   the rivalry between catholics and protestants who also interpret the bible differently is very similar. british troops have been used to separate the two groups like the US soldiers in iraq.  it is a shame that bloody and viscious wars are fought in the name of religion.  hope this helps

  9. serious? wow people really ask questions like this...

  10. Richard Branson owns it at the moment, but it's up for auction this year..I heard Roman Abramovich and Oprah Winfrey are gonna slug it out for the deeds to the country hahahahahaa

  11. Nobody owns it. Its run by the Irish government who we,the Irish people elect every five years. And an answerer worte in your previous question that Ireland was part of the British Isles geographically. That is no longer true either.

  12. If the northern bit of the American continent is Canada, then what is the US owned by?  See how ridiculous this sounds?  Ireland is a country.  It's not owned by anything

  13. The southern half isn't a half at all... It's a whole.  It's the Republic of Ireland and a separate country from the UK.  Actually, Northern Ireland should be a part of the Republic, but that's another story.
