Ireland - Dublin?

Question

I am thinking of going to Dublin next April (Fri - Mon) with a few friends. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap hostel, hotel or B & B near the centre? Also what places to go at night - pubs & clubs? Thanks!

Hi, Keep looking on Ryanair website i got flights for £20.00 each return, and sometimes they are cheaper still. I found an apartment through Hotel Finder £21.75 per night each, there are hostels that are very cheap but you could also be sharing with people that you don't know.  I have also stayed in Wynn's Hotel that cost 90 euros for B & B for 2 nights.  Both the apartments and Wynn's are ideally situated both are just off O'Connell St. When you arrive at Dublin take the Airlink bus from the airport it's approx 7 euros each.  while in Dublin take a tour bus it cost's approx 14 euros each but they take you to all the main tourist attractions and it's a hop on off bus all day.  Henry St is fantastic for shopping it is the next street after the Post Office on O'Connell St (you cant miss the post office and the post office is worth a visit it takes you back in time)  Have a great stay i will be back in Dublin in January.

Dublin is not the nicest of places to go, I hate it..... but for a reasonably good place to eat/drink, try the thunderroad cafe

book early. I live in Dublin but am from wales there is one thing you will learn very quickly.  It is expensive,  food, hotels, drinks, taxis, everything.  only London is more expensive than Dublin in Europe.  thought you could do with the heads up.  pub and club culture is no different from the uk and if your thinking of going to temple bar then all your going to meet is fellow brits and pay even more money for your beer.  if you want to see a more realistic ireland go to galway or cork and skip dublin all together.  If you like guiness go to the factory if not skip it you won't miss much, same goes for the jameson brewery.  as far as pubs go you will be spoiled for choice and in regards to clubs.  depends on what you like but there all pretty much main stream and some are more pick up joints than others.  the only one you MUST miss is copper face jacks,  don't go it to scary.

Dublin is overpriced and not the real Ireland.....Head south for a better(cheaper) time.....

i just booked the hostel in temple street the "barnacles house" (www.barnacles.ie) its only 23 euros for a bed in a 6bedroom at 17th december!

so its ok!

cheap aswell!

and i was told its Ultra central!

oh though its not apparenyly good to buy the dublin pass, unless you do plenty of attractions the same day!!!

The irish guy who made a website said its rarely good to buy it...

You could try the Four Courts Hostel, which was in the top ten hostels of the world and you can stay there for just below €20

Directions:  

From Dublin Airport, take the Airlink service to Busaras.

From Dun Laoghaire ferry port take the DART to Connolly Station.

From Heuston Station, take the feeder bus to Connolly station.

doesnt matter if yourre in a shared room or not nice place

Hi!

Aw you'll love Ireland.

Ok, when I go to Dublin I stay in Bewleys hotel. Its 109 euro for a room.Is really nice and clean.There is a lovely restuarant. Breakfast is extra (like 11 euro I think, but the food is great and you can take as much as you like for that fixed price).

Bewleys has a bus stop outside which is handy for travelling, or of course you could get a taxi to O Connell Street for example.

My favourite shopping centre is Dundrum Shopping Centre. A taxi will take you there. There is a lovely cinema there also.

Cheap - in Dublin? Near the city centre? There haven't been any for about 10 years now.

Head west to Galway or Limerick, or down to Cork instead. These are all the real Ireland.
