There is no actual scientific theory or evidence that anything unusual is going to happen in 2012. It is a collection of myths and disproven theories being promulgated by doomsday predictors, who predict a new one every few years. The longer explanation is below:

It is based on the end the current cycle of the Mayan long count calendar. No doomsday was predicted and the Mayan civilization died out, so no new cycle was written.

Niburu (Planet X) doesn't exist. Zecharia Sitchin is an author of books promoting the ancient astronaut theory for human origins. He attributes the creation of the ancient Sumerian culture to the Annunaki (or Nephilim) from a hypothetical planet named Nibiru in the solar system. The Doomsayers predicted that it was to hit Earth in 2003. Undaunted when it didn't show up, they just moved it out to 2012 to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar.

Galactic Alignment - takes 36 years to precess through galactic equator, we will be 6 degrees off in 2012.

Asteroid Apophis - the 2001 alert was for 2029, and was canceled after additional observations showed it would not hit us.

Polar Shift - the magnetic poles are moving all the time.

Polar reversal happens over thousands of years.

Passage through a "photon belt" has been added. This is also untrue and wouldn't hurt us if it were. Photons are merely units of light.

Solar flares happen all the time and we have more of them at some times than others. They haven't caused any serious problems in the past. The direct effects of solar flares are mainly related to communications and radio transmissions. We had a major series of solar flares in 2005. Did you notice anything? I didn't.

what we no today from are current scientists is that are  planet passes threw the center of are galaxy which is the th13th constilation "ophiucus" the serpent holder. yes are ancestors greek romans had 13 contilations. of  coarse we currently do not.   unlucky 13 i guess.  

Are planet also completes one full what we call a "wobble" on its axis. An event the can change all landscapes, climates, enviromentally on the planet earth. all it would take is a adjustment by 1 degree. just think global warming youll get the idea what would happen when if the planet shifts.                                   .

It seems most people have heard 2012 from the recent translations of the mayans long calendar . which amazingly they were taught by a cacasian diety with white hair blue eyes and and an elongated forehead whom come from the sea. They called there living "god"   kublakahn.  

For reasons not yet explained just phrophecied are ancestoral race humans in many cultures fear this galactic alignment an event that as far as we can see only occurs every ten thousand years.

so in conclusion the stories are ancestors carved on walls and tablets could of been from there surving ancestors stories passed from generation to generation. people who have seen  witnessed such events. its perplexing what could happen 2012 and even more so how some ancient civilizations knew astronomy without satelites and telescopes

People say a lot of things. Like for example. People think that the world will end because of Global warming. Global warming is a hoax. I swear to god it is. Global Warming is just the way the earth works. It looses the water and it gains it at the same time. People aren't realizing and they're only saying things like this to scare people and make them wake up from their normal day routines.

2012 is claimed by some [who?] to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). This claim is based on Christian text, Mayan civilization or some other source. However, there is no agreement whether in 2012 there will be the end of civilization, or humanity will be elevated to a higher level, or a new human species will evolve, or some other major catastrophe will occur.

But if the Ancient Mayans are smarter than the Scientist today, then all I have to say is, "wtf?"

People said the same thing about 6/6/06. Nothing happened.

But The world does not have a bomb set to detonate at 2012.

Based on alot researches, the earth is going to enter the 5th dimension. People will be capable of telepathically talking to one another, understanding animals and longer lifespan.

The current few Mayans believe that the world will not end but it will "renew". Scientists believe that there will be a Polar Shift. The North Pole and The South Pole will switch. Such event is catastrophic.

Nonetheless, we will never know for sure until 2012 now will we?
