Get a boogie woogie beat in your head and then sing along.

8 to the bar

There is a place where we all go.

We all go there our work to show.

We post it there for all to see.

Can you do one as good as me?

Sing this song to a boogie beat,

Eight to the bar is really neat.

Stomp with your feet and clap your hands,

And sing your song throughout the lands.

Strum on your guitar, high and low,

And make the music twang and flow.

Shake your booty and tap your toes,

That's just the way the rhythm goes.

There's eight small counts and couplet rhyme,

A hit is wrote most every time.

So try it now and you will see,

That you are better now than me.

feel free to add a verse or two.

  1. Happily, I’ll give it a twirl,

It's high time for jitterbug girl!

    Silly, pretty, little ditty

    Jitterbug rag, sounding witty.

I am ready to have some fun,

Don’t stop the music, you have won.

I’ve been serious all day long,

Now, I’m ready to sing your song.

Where are my dancing blue suede shoes?

Without that pair, my feet will bruise.

Where did I put my new white dress?

What will I do, my hair's a mess?

    Wasting time while music's playing.

    Can’t go now, that’s what I’m saying!

  9. Dondi taught me how to do this,

And his teaching I do not diss,

He told me how to count the beat,

And make a rhyme that sounds so sweet.

If I can do it so can you,

    Much easier than making stew.

I love this question, it can be a lot of fun.

  10. I either sing it or crank up my southern drawl and drip it.

I like the idea of what you have written, nice and simple,in perfect rhythm.

... here's what I think of music and words.

    (Soft)

    What say you of words

    Can you not see  music?

    The rhythmic syllables

    with their musical notes

    (Normal)

    Vivid visions of rhythm

    designed and formed

    disyllables, trisyllables

    accents long and short

    (Loud)

    written words musically

    translated from simplicity

    conducted, orchestrated

    with meter; measured by time

    (Very Loud)

    waltzes, tangos, metal, rock

    oldies, classic, even hip hop

they flow and ebb their tides

    (Soft)

    beautifully to my THOUGHTS!

  11. We go down to the local dance

Like we got fire in our pants

Hang out there for a little while

Dance and strut in the current style

Boy, this rhythm sure is easy

Hope my writing's not too cheesy!

Beat me Dondi, eight to the bar!

You're right most anyone can do it!

  12. I feel a strange sort of pity or shame when I see a person in the crowd clapping out of time. It makes me want to go and help them.

  13. Ay, but what about those poor few

without rhythm and have no clue

are we to remain still seated

while you all dance to beat beated?????

    ma

  15. It is for you obviously.  So

Kick back and get it in a groove

Get that foot up/down on the move

Tap those symbols and crack that hat

Show the bass where it's really at

Oh yeah man I'm stuck in a funk

*Cue the lights* I'm bring'n the junk

    Edit:

(Somebody go help TD, he'd do it for one us.)

  16. I feel too old and tired today to boost

the band to make then play a jive or two

for you, for me to cut a rug or do

a little jitter bug across the room

But if the music turns on my energy

I'll phone you up we'll meet at three

Never will I ever ever be better then You!

Kudos Dondi for the wake up call, Neat fun poem.
