not really more of an activity but its really death defying and hard but i would call it a sport:)

you have to practice long and hard

you do somersaults and twirls and handstands

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE DONT THINK ITS A SPORT

Ya!!!!!! Well competitive cheerleading is with stunts, tumbling , and dance! People have died from it and gotten seriously hurt so I'm pretty sure its a sport! Duh! We work out 4 days a week with competitions and practice! We have to run a few miles every practice and our practices are anywhere from 2 to 7 hours! We had h**l week recently...and yes it sucked because cheerleading is hard because it is a sport!

Its catorgoryed in the sports section at schools and stuff.

Its IS a sport.

Look it up, it is.

I do admit that some cheerleading sqauds don't do much.

But they do get the crowd pumped and happy.

And competitive cheerleading is EXTREMILY HARD.

They do flips, etc.

All the hard stuff.

Thats why most peeps can't be in competitive cheerleading.

2 be a cheerleader u can't be shy, and u have 2 be very flexible, and athletic.

Its hard 2 be 1.

U have 2 take time out of your scedule 2 go 2 lots of practices, and games.

Its hard work.

And some schools only let u in with passing grades, so they have 2 keep that up 2.

Yes it is a sport.

They work very hard and its a lot harder than it looks.

It is a team sport that combines gymnastics, stunting, acrobats, and dance into a synchronized high energy, high action choreographed routine. Teams are made up of athletes from all over the metro area. Each team competes in different divisions based on grade and skill level. For sure. Don't listen to what other people say. I used to think that it isn't, but I tried out once, watched cheerleading movies, and watch cheerleaders on youtube. You have to be strong to be able to pick up people, you have to have balance to be able to be in the air on people's hands, you have be able to tumble and do flips(which requires strength), and you have to be coordinated to do the dances. You also have to practice hard to make all cheers and stunts perfect. So, yes it is a sport. And don't worry not all cheerleaders are snob. People just automatically think that, which is stereo type.
