Is Chemistry 101 difficult?

If you did high school chem? if you did it should be easy. If you didn't you may find it hard and you may need to consider a bridging unit or getting a tutor. At my Uni the bridging unit was called Chem for Life Sciences (ECU WA).

For some people, usually the ones who don't bother to study, it can be very difficult.  It's one of the courses that it is very popular for freshmen to gripe about.  For other people, it's enjoyable, fascinating, and easy.  The concepts can seem strange at first, so it takes some attention to learn them.  But once you have understood them, they become quite easy.  It can be a matter of learning the 'right' way to look at things.  A good instructor, TA, tutor, or friend, can really help with that part.   Good luck with it, since it's usually a requirement to take it, not a choice.

pretty much the definition of something 101 is that it is very easy. so i would say no. means its for beginners. no.

it's something new - so it's challenging till you get the hang of it

Na = sodium

Cl = chlorine

both are a poison

NaCl = table salt

and we can't live without that!

If you took chemistry in high school, then it should be a breeze. Chemistry 101 pretty much only goes over the general/basic elements of chemistry, while the higher/upper division chem classes focuses on more in-depth rigorous concepts.

Also, since it sounds like it's your first year of college. Try using ratemyprofessors.com as a tool in picking out your professor. A good professor makes the class and the experience a whole lot better.
