Question:

Is Christianity a fad?

I often wonder if the guys who wrote the bible did it for kicks, but for some reason lured a ton of people to believe that there is a god and a son name Jesus that made all their pain and suffering go away magically. Could I start something just like the pastafarian religion?

  1. Yes, it's a fad.

And personally, I predict that the next fad will be the "Law of attraction".

Christianity is a watered down version of previous pagan beliefs.  The Law of Attraction is a further watered down version of those same beliefs.  There may be another version after that, but I doubt it.  Beyond the exceptionally generic and open-ended concept of the Law of Attraction, there's not really much need to have supernatural beliefs at all.

  2. Why not start your own thing?  It can only be better than christianity

  3. Wrote the Bible for kicks?! What kicks? They were tortured and killed (the Apostles and Jesus' followers that is) If they made it up I'm pretty sure they would have said "OK, I made it up, I lied, don't kill me", instead they were prepared to be tortured and killed, crucified, ripped apart by bulls etc...

    Definitely not for "kicks"

  4. 2000 years, more or less, is really not a long time in the greater scheme of things - unless you believe that the earth is only 6000 years old. But you have to be a nut to believe that.

So, yeah, you could say it is a fad.

  5. Wow, some fad. I know I think it would be awesome to start a fad that I would get tortured and killed for over a lie*sarcasm*

Also, I don't hear of too many 2000-year-or fads very often.

  6. A lot of people already believed in God, or Gods, or ancestor worship when Jesus came along, silly.

If you would like to be tortured and die on a cross to give every person the right to be Children of God, then go right ahead.

Only, since we already have that right, through Jesus Christ, it would be kind of redundant.  So you might just like to try accepting the gift Jesus gave you instead.

Unfortunately, Jesus could only offer the gift.  (You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, so the old saying goes.)

  7. You call two thousand years of Christianity and Billions of Christians past, present and in the future a fad?. Some Fad!!. Christianity is not a fad.

  8. No it is not a fad, but it is a very well calculated scam.

If you instill guilt and fear using an imaginary place, like h**l, into the people who cannot think very well on their own, you have got them where you want them.

Then you promise them that only your way can "save" them, they will flock to you like sheep, emptying their wallets at the same time.

  9. And even more dangerous than disco!

  10. It's one long @ss fad, if you ask me.

  11. As sure as death.

  12. actually historically speaking its atheism that's the fad. Just look at what Will Durant writes about, h**l even hes an atheist and he sees it

  13. They already did the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

  14. a fad would mean that it is a passing trend. i'm sad to say, but i think this one is going to stick.

  15. no its permanent!
