  1. i would like to promote mindanao and tourism but i would be a hypocrite if i say that mindanao is safe right now.  although  the conflict is quite far from davao,  we will never know if it will spillover to the peaceful city of davao.  terrorists could instigate bombings to divert attention just like what they did when they bomb davao airport and light rail transit in manila.  in fact even metro manila is under red alert.

  2. I say.. Don't risk it. It's pretty unstable down there and you don't want to ruin your vacation. Even people from Manila don't even go there because of the ongoing 'war'

Just try going North and avoid Mindanao for now. :)

  3. No..

  4. You'll probably go there by air which is the safest route. Traveling on bus, lets say by CDO to Davao is just isn't safe since some terrorist activities are moving towards other cities and are on major roads and highways.

I really couldn't say what's the security like in davao but some good muslims have warned us even beforehand the bombings and violence occur that there are more to come and the conflict is still not over yet.

The surest thing is that all mindanao town and areas are on red alert even davao. With the constant threat of bombing cant say, if davao is safe from that.Davao is a nice place to visit and with these tensions or fear it seems to hinders you to do somethings or go somewhere. We are celebrating our city fiesta but when were warned not to venture to malls for now. Which kinda pisses you off because its just isn't fun anymore when everybody seems not going out for fear for their life.

  5. As long you stay only in City of Davao.

  6. It's Kadayawan Festival in Davao this week. This should be the best time to come and visit the place. The war in Mindanao has been there since decades ago and there is no telling when it's going to end. Davao though is not in the center of it and is a big city that's not going to get invaded or something. But pretty bad things can always happen like for some bombs blowing up as diversionary action by any of the warring parties.

If you are not that alien to Davao (like you've been to the place before) and you and your mom are seasoned tourists (like you always have contingencies for any bad situation that may happen), or if you have local relatives and friends in that place; then go ahead proceed with your vacation. Otherwise, postpone it and wait for things to get calmer because you probably are not going to enjoy it because of the current tension. But do not wait for the war to end cause it's not going to happen in the near future. Davao is such a nice place to miss visiting in your lifetime.

  7. You'll be fine if you just don't venture off into the forest on a hiking trip with bundles of cash and bibles in your backpack.
