Is Josh Childress weird or something?

Is he really ready to risk his career playing in Europe? I've always thought he was a little strange. Maybe he thinks he's smart for doing this. I just think it's dumb. It may be slightly better for the short term, but in the long term?

  1. no, he is just picking money over playing the most competitive basketball in the world.

Look it's understandable, Childress is young, and have money is important, he will want that championship feeling in the NBA later in his career and come back.....hopefully.

  2. Not really

    its a really good deal.

He gets 20 mil for 3 years, and while he is over thier he odes not have to pay for anything.

That and he can come abck to the NBA after 3 years, so its a great deal for him =)

  3. bad choice for the child

  4. Well if getting paid more by playing over seas is weird, call me a weirdo then.

  5. he is dumb for getting the most money he possibly can? well if that is dumb to you, maybe you're the one that's dumb.

  6. hahaha w/e man. he gets what? $20 mil in 4 years, that will last him a lifetime even if he getts hurt on his 4th year!!!

  7. Same reason why shoock many European when Beckham desire to come to MLS.  But unlike beckham childress is young and not at his prime yet, one main reason why Euro can pay a lot more than NBA now, cause the currency exchange, remember now is 1.6 dollar to a Euro !

Also there's many good reason for childress to leave the Hawks, first they offer him far lower than what he worth, plus he's a sixth man not starting line up, after is Eururoleague, is still developt, he will had many easier game in there.

Is good for him, since he probably might a top choice for olympic team next team, since he will know exatly how Greece player play. that explain why Greece beat U.S.A. 2 years ago.

  8. $$$

  9. Nah, he plays behinde Joe Johnson and the teams not going to start him, or trade him.  Marvin Williams starts at SF, so he'd get more money (dollar sucks on the stock market compared to overseas), more playing time (he'll be probably one of the 5 best players on any team over there), and after a year or two, he can come back and get maximum playing time as a starter for someone else.  Its better than sitting on the bench waiting your turn in an awful economy in the US haven't you been hearing the word Recession????

  10. he went for the money.  plus hes not that good, he could use some experience overseas, you never know he could come back a much better player than he would be if he stays in the nba.  h**l get more time and game experience overseas, where he will be counted on to do much more than he would be in the nba.

  11. No but he got an ugly jumper

  12. Toucansam,

$20 million tax free- is smart!!!  It's tax free that's like making $9 million a year in the States- and no one as going to pay him that kind of money- he can come back in a year- after making $6 million/yr (tax free) once again!!! It's a smart move!

    Nickster

  13. His move has potential to pay off in the long term, but he might have jumped the gun a bit too fast, even though the Hawks were not making any offers. Josh Smith definitely has a place in the NBA, but with Atlanta not even talking to them, Smith will most likely wear a new uniform next season, and what does Atlanta get out of both deals? a lineup of

    G.Mike Bibby

    G.Joe Johnson

    F.Marvin Williams

    F.AL Horford

    C.Zaza Pachulia

    not exactly an elite lineup.

  14. WHY WOULD HE WANT TO SAY WITH THE HAWKS WHEN HE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY OVER-SEAS?

PLAYING IN EUROPE IS BETTER FOR HIS FAMILY!!

  15. would you take $20 million dollars over 3 years tax free knowing it was also a bigger offer than what the Hawks had been offering

i'd love to know how you think he is "risking" his career.  He can go be a star in Europe...i was just about to ask a question about Europe.
