I am still an undergraduate student in college, it's just my second year, but when I first studying the media I fell in love with it, but I'm not sure if there will be choices to work in for this profession I mean choices like ( Magazine, company and Radio or maybe broadcasting, Online articles).

  1. Shirley,

I have two friends in journalism, and they are scared of losing their jobs. Both are in print - one newspaper, one magazine. However, internet is leading to lower sales for both. They are having to adapt.

Additionally, the major newspaper here (Seattle Times) just laid off a large number of people - about 20% of their workforce. So, check into what you can do within the internet  with journalism.

  2. News media outlets are downsizing and changing, but the need for journalists is solid and will increase with the massive doubling of information.

Analysis will replace news reporting, so the skills of the craft will always be needed.

You have already missed working for an afternoon newspaper, and you might even be too late to score a slot on an American newspaper.....but the need for journalists will not wither.

Journalists will be working for many convergent media outlets and few will have a full time job (and benefits) from any one source.  You may also end up reporting via the Internet for news organizations in many nations.

Hope this answer helps you, Shirley.
