No - he was slaugtered on public health grounds - ie the cow was diseased.

Defra regulations insist that the corpse of any animal condemned to slaughter for harbouring an infectious pathogen is incinerated and does not enter the human foodchain. By this logic, I deduce that the takeaway across the road from my house will be serving him up as soon as they open tonight, as I have yet to find anything on their menu that is fit for human consumption.
