Is Spinal Tab an actual band?

Because the movie SPINAL TAB, its about a band and I'm wondering if they are an actual band who play on stage and so on, because i think they sounded quite good and if they are not they should form a band.

It's a few comedy guys that made a "mockumentary" cracking on the music industry in general.  The spoofs about the 3 foot tall stonehendge, "hello Clevland" "Turn it up to 11" and all that stuff was a spoof.  One of their cd's was actually called "Breaking Wind."  

So, yeah, they were a "Band" but it was all a joke.

good grief.  The film was called "This is Spinal Tap".  the songs were all written, rehearsed and performed by the actors, so in that sense they are a proper band.  They even toured as Spinal Tap, and there is a later film which documents one of their shows.  Christopher Guest's later film, "A Mighty Wind", was about a folk band and was a similar deal, in which many of the same actors returned and performed convincing comedy versions of folk songs.

I think you are talking about "Here Comes Spinal Tap".  No, they weren't a real band, but after the movie became a cult classic, I think they did play a few shows just for fun.  I seem to remember someone doing a contest where the grand prize was a guitar and amp that 'goes to eleven'.
